Amira Y. Trevino, PhD
Amira (she/her) is a Psychologist specialized in complex/ relational trauma. She has supported research in areas of suicide prevention, traumatic brain injury, well-being, and diversity and social justice in higher education. In her own research, she led projects exploring cultural conversations in psychotherapy, as well as explored the impact of within-group child sexual abuse on Multiracial identity.
Her work has been presented at national- and state-level conferences and at local organizations. She has trained mental health professionals across levels of development on areas related to psychotherapy approaches (e.g., multicultural orientation, cultural competency, humility) and diversity in higher education.
Relatedly, Amira has helped hundreds of clients work through the impacts of complex and insidious trauma in their lives. Her clinical interests include complex trauma, cultural identities, and empowerment-based approaches to support survivors of complex trauma in their healing.
She has received numerous awards for her support to diverse communities and is a published author. You can find her work in peer-reviewed academic journals, books, and media outlets.
